Martijn Gerard Garritsen, known as Martin Garrix, is a Dutch DJ from Amstelveen whose rapid rise followed early support from Tiësto and a 2012 signing with Spinnin' Records. Animals made him the youngest artist to reach the top of Beatport's chart in 2013, and at 17 he became Ultra Music Festival's youngest headliner. His performances are rooted in big room house but have increasingly brought in progressive-house ideas, alongside Dutch house, electro house and future bass.
Garrix has played a substantial Ibiza schedule, including Ushuaïa Ibiza, Hï Ibiza and Thursday dates at Ushuaïa Beach Hotel, while Las Vegas appearances have included Hakkasan, Omnia and Wet Republic. His major festival appearances span Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Ultra South Africa, Coachella, EDC and Creamfields. He founded STMPD RCRDS in 2016, adding a label platform to his touring work.
Garrix has won DJ Mag's Top 100 poll five times: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2024. Beyond club and festival stages, he headlined the closing ceremony of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and performed at UEFA Euro 2020's opening and closing ceremonies with U2's Bono and The Edge. His career combines large-scale event sets with a continuing shift in his musical direction.
