Joshua Kiekegaard Grant Steele, known as Flux Pavilion, is an English DJ from Towcester who began performing in 2008. A year later he co-founded Circus Records with childhood friend Doctor P, creating a label outlet supported by DJ Swan-E and Earl Falconer of UB40. His DJ sound combines dubstep's heavy basslines with drum and bass, electronica and electro-house elements, drawing stated inspiration from The Prodigy and Rusko. The 2010 track I Can't Stop became a widely used viral release, later sampled on Jay-Z and Kanye West's Who Gon Stop Me and used in the Kony 2012 campaign, the game SSX and the trailer for Rush.
Bass Cannon followed in 2011 and reached the UK singles chart. Flux Pavilion has taken this bass-heavy material to major festival stages including Glastonbury, Reading, Coachella and EDC Vegas, while also headlining three US tours and two UK tours. He has performed live with Example, Foreign Beggars and Chiddy Bang. In 2014, The Walt Disney Company commissioned him to remix the Star Wars Rebels theme.
His work has appeared through Circus, Big Beat and Atlantic, and he was nominated for the BBC Sound of 2012 poll as one of only two independent artists on its longlist. Flux Pavilion's DJ career connects weighty club sonics with broad crossover reach.
