About Erick Morillo

Erick Morillo was born 26 March 1971 in New York City and built one of house music's most prominent residency careers before his death on 1 September 2020, founding Subliminal Records in 1997 as a direct platform for his own club sets. He held a Wednesday night residency at Pacha Ibiza under the Subliminal Sessions banner, one of the island's defining house nights through the 2000s, alongside a parallel residency at Pacha New York and appearances at Ministry of Sound in London.

Morillo's production under the Reel 2 Real name, I Like to Move It, became a global crossover hit that he wove into his own DJ sets for years afterward, bridging his commercial breakthrough with his club identity. He was named Remixer of the Year by Muzik magazine in 1999, recognition that reflected both his studio output and the way his remixes were built to work inside his own extended club sets.

Subliminal Records became a hub for the early-2000s tribal house sound, with Morillo using his Pacha residencies to break new tracks from the label's roster to Ibiza's summer crowds. His decades-long presence across Pacha's global network of clubs made him one of the most consistently booked house DJs of his generation, a residency-driven career that shaped Ibiza's house music circuit through multiple summers.
