Camo & Krooked
Camo & Krooked are the Austrian electronic duo of Reinhard “Camo” Rietsch and Markus “Krooked” Wagner, based in Vienna. Both had been producing since 2002 before meeting at one of Rietsch's gigs; they formed the partnership in 2007 and made their first collaboration, “Play It,” for Camo's Drop It single. Their roots are embedded in drum and bass, but their signature production style also brings together disco, French house and minimal music.
In their early years they released through Future Prophecies' Berzerk, Body & Soul's Nasca and Mainframe Recordings, the label of Austrian producer DisasZt. Their debut album Above & Beyond arrived through Mainframe in 2010 as a 14-track release accompanied by a compilation mix from DisasZt. Camo & Krooked have also released on RAM Records and recorded mixes for BBC Radio 1.
Their DJ history includes playing Hospitality Brixton, a back-to-back showcase of the Hospital Records roster, and they are associated with the wider Hospitality event scene. Beyond the main duo, Rietsch and Wagner released minimal techno and house as Masai and Chrome. Camo & Krooked's DJ identity is defined by that openness: they lead from drum and bass while drawing in house, funk, minimal, electro, dubstep and drumstep to keep the duo's selections and productions in motion.
