Zane Lowe

Zane Lowe is a New Zealand-born broadcaster and DJ who built his profile through a decade on BBC Radio 1 from 2003 to 2015 before becoming Creative Director of Apple Music's global station, now Apple Music 1, where he hosts The Zane Lowe Show. Before radio, he DJed as part of the electronic act Breaks Co-Op alongside Hamish Clark, releasing the album Roofers in 1997, and earlier performed in the hip hop group Urban Disturbance in New Zealand. After relocating to the UK in 1997, Lowe developed his DJ career by opening sets for bands and presenting on XFM and MTV Two before landing his prime-time BBC Radio 1 slot in 2003. His radio shows have long featured exclusive premieres and artist interviews delivered alongside his own mixing and track selection, a format he carried into his Apple Music role after being hired in 2015. Lowe's transition from club and radio DJ to tastemaker broadcaster has made him a recognizable voice connecting DJ culture with mainstream artist promotion, a role he continues in his ongoing Apple Music 1 programming.
