Z-Trip
Z-Trip, the stage name of Zach Sciacca, an American DJ, turntablist and producer regarded as a pioneer of the mashup movement within DJ culture. Born in Queens and raised in Phoenix, he came up through the Bombshelter DJs, an influential Phoenix turntablism crew that also included Emile and Radar, before establishing a solo career built on blending disparate genres live on vinyl.
He won the 2009 America's Best DJ Award from DJ Times' reader poll, beating more than 100 other nominated DJs, a recognition tied directly to his live performance reputation. Since 2012 he has served as LL Cool J's touring DJ, and he has worked as a producer with artists across genres including Public Enemy, Kasabian and Dan the Automator.
He collaborated with Talib Kweli on the mixtape "Attack the Block" and has released his own mixtape series exploring genre-blending sets. Z-Trip's live shows have drawn praise for decades, including a widely cited Coachella 2002 set, and he continues to tour internationally, carrying forward the mashup and turntablist techniques that built his reputation as one of the more distinctive live-performance DJs of his generation.
