Tycho
Tycho, the recording and touring name of Scott Hansen, is a San Francisco-based ambient and electronic artist who fronts a full live band and also performs standalone DJ sets that sit apart from his main show. His DJ practice includes a scheduled extended set at Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate Park in August 2026, and a DJ set at the venue Public Works in San Francisco in April 2025, performances built around ambient and downtempo selections distinct from the album-focused live band shows for which he is best known. Hansen's musical path began after he moved back to downtown Sacramento and started experimenting with drum machines, synthesizers and a sampler, a piece of gear that let him chop and rearrange sound in ways that shifted his focus from simply playing with equipment to composing full pieces. He is also a visual artist, designing Tycho's album art and live visuals himself, and worked extensively with fellow Sacramento musician Zac Brown while developing the album "Epoch." While his primary identity remains rooted in production and live-band performance, his confirmed DJ sets at Outside Lands and Public Works establish a genuine, if secondary, DJ practice built on ambient and downtempo material drawn from his catalogue.
