Truth
Truth is a dubstep duo from Christchurch, New Zealand, made up of Andre Fernandez and Tristan Roake, who formed in 2007 and have toured North America, the UK and Europe, New Zealand and Australia, and Latin America across nearly two decades of DJ dates. Signed to Mala's influential Deep Medi Musik and known to UK scene tastemakers through Get Darker, the duo built a reputation for deep, dark and heavy sets drawing on dub, reggae, drum and bass and hip-hop, with support from figures including Mala, Skream and Liquid Stranger. In 2012 they founded their own label, Deep Dark & Dangerous, which has since grown into an incubator for a wider roster of artists working in that sound, and their festival dates have included Shambhala, Outlook, Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Forest, Boomtown, Earth Frequency and Rabbits Eye. Now splitting time between Portland, Oregon and their native Christchurch, Fernandez and Roake continue to tour behind the label they built, with live sets described as exercises in tension and release drawn from years of dubstep DJ support. Their trajectory from a New Zealand studio partnership to an international festival circuit reflects the reach dubstep achieved well beyond its UK origins.
