Troy Pierce

Troy Pierce is an American-born minimal techno DJ and producer who relocated from New York to Berlin in December 2002 to align his career with the city then setting the pace for minimal electronic music. Originally from Indiana, Pierce came up through the Midwest house and techno circuit shaped by Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills and Derrick Carter before spending a decade in New York honing a minimal, dancefloor-oriented sound.

After his move to Berlin, he signed to Hawtin's label M_nus, releasing under his own name as well as the aliases Slacknoise and Louderbach, and became one third of the project Run Stop Restore alongside Magda and Marc Houle, whose debut release "The Geometry E.P." appeared on M_nus in 2004. Pierce built a reputation for a dancefloor-friendly hybrid of minimal house and downbeat techno, distinct from the more austere end of the minimal scene, playing regular sets at Berlin venues including Berghain-era Beatstreet and touring through London clubs Egg and The End.

He contributed the bonus mix "Something More" to the Minus compilation Nothing Much and has performed alongside labelmates including Ricardo Villalobos and Matthew Dear at events spanning Montreal's Mutek festival to club dates in Zurich and Vienna. Pierce's catalog and DJ practice remain closely tied to the Minus label's minimal techno lineage, a scene he helped define after his relocation from the American Midwest to Berlin over two decades ago.
