Tony Rohr
Tony Rohr is a Brooklyn-based DJ and producer whose voodoo techno sound has circulated through European clubs since the early 1990s. Born in Effingham, Illinois, he began DJing before moving into production in 1996 and later focused on live PA performances from 1997 onward. His track Baile Conmigo gained international traction after Sven Vath and Richie Hawtin included it on their 2002 compilation documenting the sound of Ibiza's second season, cementing his standing among techno crowds.
His releases have also surfaced on mix compilations curated by Frankie Bones, Surgeon and Supa DJ Dimitri, alongside output on labels such as Hidden Agenda, Weave, Genau, Remains, Tonewrecker and Cocoon. He has recorded under the alias Afternoon Coffee Boys within Detroit-adjacent techno circles. His track Dead Chewy, featured on the compilation D, remains a recurring favorite in his back catalogue.
Described by German outlet laut.de as one of electronic music's most original personalities straddling Brooklyn grit and Midwestern roots, Rohr's career has spanned atmospheric, dancefloor-friendly techno productions released steadily since the mid-1990s. His work continues to circulate through techno DJ sets referencing his early Cocoon-era releases.
