Tom Hades

Tom Hades is a Belgian techno DJ and producer who began making music at age 15 after buying a Casio CZ-101 keyboard and repurposing his home computer as a makeshift studio. He connected with fellow Belgian producer Marco Bailey through a mutual friend, and the pair's first collaborative release arrived in 2000, leading Bailey to introduce their tracks to the Ghent-based label Music Man, where the pairing was subsequently signed.

The stage name Tom Hades was adopted at that point, with Hades chosen for its association with the Greek god of the underworld and Tom selected because it translates easily across languages. In 2004 he founded his own label, Rhythm Convert, intended as a platform for emerging techno talent, relaunching it in 2010 as the solo imprint Rhythm Converted; his solo work has also appeared on MB Elektronics, Drumcode and Pornographic Recordings.

Over more than two decades in the techno scene, Hades moved between conventional DJ sets and live hardware performances, spending roughly eight to nine years favoring live sets before returning to DJing, a shift he has compared to a similar path taken by producer Paul Ritch. His catalogue and longstanding presence in Belgium's techno scene have kept him active as both a touring DJ and label operator.
