About Todd Terry

Todd Terry, born Todd Norton Terry in Brooklyn on 18 April 1967, is an American DJ and producer whose work helped define the New York house scene from the late 1980s onward. He built a sound rooted in classic disco, the Chicago house style and hip-hop sampling techniques, releasing early records including Bango, A Day in the Life and Can You Party under his own name and aliases such as Gypsymen and CLS.

His remix of Everything But the Girl's Missing brought him wider recognition, alongside his own version of Keep on Jumpin' and the Jungle Brothers collaboration I'll House You. Terry runs several labels, including InHouse Records, launched in 1999, alongside Freeze Records, SoundDesign Records and Terminator Records, through which he continues to release new material such as the track The Sound, featuring vocalist Leia Contois.

He has also released on Defected and Hot Creations, extending his catalogue into more recent house scenes while maintaining his original sample-driven sound. In November 2025 he played a live set at The Roof in New York City as part of the Gray Area series, and he continues to headline house-focused club nights, including a 2026 date at Paragon in New York City, more than three decades after his earliest productions helped shape the genre.
