Tiefschwarz
Tiefschwarz is the German house duo of brothers Sebastian and Alexander Schwarz, formed in Stuttgart in 1996, with their name combining the German word for deep black and a nod to their surname. Their earliest productions surfaced on the Continue Musics label in 1997, and the track Music, released on Francois Kevorkian's Wave Music imprint in 1999, marked their first placement on a widely respected label. Their debut album, RAL9005, arrived on Four Music in 2001 and was later licensed to Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon's Classic Recordings, a label they continued releasing on until its 2005 collapse.
In 2006 they contributed a mix to the Fabric series, London's long-running club mix franchise. The brothers have DJed across Europe since 1995, playing major clubs and events throughout Germany, Switzerland and Ibiza, with additional dates in Miami, New York, Melbourne, Sydney, Amsterdam and London. Their sound shifted over the years from mellow deep house toward a grittier electro house approach, drawing renewed attention from DJs including Ivan Smagghe and Sasha.
They have also produced remixes for Madonna, Missy Elliott and Depeche Mode, and marked their tenth anniversary with the 2007 compilation 10 Years of Blackmusik.
