Thomas Bangalter
Thomas Bangalter is a French musician and producer best known as one half of Daft Punk alongside Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, but his solo DJ practice runs through his own label Roulé, which he owned and used as a platform for club-focused house releases until its liquidation in 2018. Through the 1990s and 2000s, Bangalter played DJ sets tied to the French house scene that Roulé helped define, alongside his studio work as a member of the trio Stardust and the duo Together. His production and DJ-adjacent work extended into film, composing the soundtrack to Irréversible and scoring ballets including Mythologies and Mirage, projects that drew on the same electronic sensibility as his club releases. Since Daft Punk's breakup in 2021, Bangalter has made more public appearances and released solo material under a new label, Alberts & Gothmaan, an anagram of his own name. His Roulé-era output and French house DJ sets remain a reference point for the genre's late-1990s and early-2000s peak, distinct from though closely tied to his work in the duo that made him internationally known.
