The Supermen Lovers
The Supermen Lovers, the stage name of French DJ and producer Guillaume Atlan, built his career around the disco- and funk-inflected house sound he has played in clubs since adopting the alias in 2000. A graduate of the Paris Conservatory, Atlan began as a guitarist and composer in other musical projects during the 1990s before founding Lafessé Records in 1999 and releasing early solo material as Stan de Mareuil. His breakthrough came with Starlight, a number one hit in twenty countries and the most-played French track of 2001 and 2002, which became a foundation of the nu disco movement he helped popularize through club sets across Europe. Atlan has toured internationally behind that sound, described by his own team as a hypnotic, genre-blending combination of synths, samples and live instruments, and he has been remixed in turn by artists including New Order and Kylie Minogue. He continued playing dates into 2025, including a French Touch-focused night at Paris venue Kilomètre25 alongside Superfunk, and released fresh reworkings of Starlight the same year ahead of a planned fifth studio album, keeping the disco house sound he pioneered in rotation on dancefloors more than two decades after its original release.
