About The Magician
The Magician is the solo DJ project of Belgian producer Stephen Fasano, who first gained recognition as part of the nu-disco duo Aeroplane between 2008 and 2010 before launching his own name in 2010. His 2012 remix of Lykke Li's "I Follow Rivers" became a defining moment for The Magician brand, pushing the song to the top of Belgian and European charts and getting regular radio play in place of the original.
He followed with a similarly successful remix of Sam Sparro's "Happiness," which also reached number one in Belgium, before scoring his first hit as a solo artist in October 2013 with "When the Night Is Over," featuring Newtimers. In July 2014 he released "Sunlight" with Years & Years, a single that reached the Flemish top ten, and that same month launched his own label, Potion, to house his growing solo catalogue.
He runs Magic Tape, a monthly mixtape series on SoundCloud that had passed its 130th edition by December 2025, giving listeners a regular showcase of his DJ selections outside single releases. His remix work, including a version of Clean Bandit's "Rather Be," has earned gold certifications across the UK, France, Belgium and Australia, underscoring a career built on remix craft as much as original production.
