The Crystal Method is the American electronic project founded by Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan in Las Vegas in 1993, later based in Los Angeles. Jordan left in 2017, and Kirkland has continued under the name. The project is considered a pioneer of breakbeat, combining big beat, alternative dance, trip hop, electronic rock and breakbeat into a distinctive, rhythm-driven style.
The 1997 debut album Vegas went gold in 1998 and platinum in 2007, while Tweekend reached number 32 on the Billboard 200 in 2001. The Crystal Method performed at Lollapalooza in 2012 and hosted Community Service, a Friday-night radio show on Indie 103.1. Its label activity includes Tiny E Records alongside releases through Outpost, Geffen, V2, Ultra, Immortal and Epic.
Legion of Boom and Divided by Night both received Grammy nominations for Best Electronic/Dance Album. The project also composed the theme for seven seasons of Bones and scored Almost Human. From its breakbeat foundations to radio curation and festival performance, The Crystal Method has maintained an electronic-rock edge while adapting from a duo into Kirkland's continuing solo-led project.
