About The Advent
The Advent, the alias of London-based Portuguese producer and DJ Cisco Ferreira, is a figure central to techno's early development, having released his first track in 1988 and pioneered live PA performances of the genre before wider audiences had encountered it. He founded The Advent in 1993 with Colin McBean, signing to Internal Records the following year, the same label that was home to Orbital, and the pair built a catalogue as both The Advent and under the alter-ego pairing G Flame (Ferreira) and Mr G (McBean).
Ferreira also worked as sound engineer on recording sessions for Derrick May and Adonis & Fingers Inc, connecting him directly to Detroit and Chicago's foundational house and techno lineage. Since McBean's departure, The Advent has continued as Ferreira's solo project, delivering raw, energetic techno sets at festivals including Nature One, Kompass and Bonusz, and regular club dates at Berghain and Tresor in Berlin, Lehmann in Stuttgart and Fabrik in Madrid.
He runs his own techno label, Kombination Research, and in 2020 launched the streaming platform Techno-Club.net with collaborators including Dave Bate, offering weekly virtual DJ sets across techno, house and electro rooms during pandemic closures. Ferreira continues to tour globally as both a DJ and live performer.
