Tha Playah, born Jim Hermsen in Nijmegen, is a Dutch hardcore producer and DJ known for an aggressive, fast sound built around sharp production and energetic, high melodic lines, often layered with rap samples and vocals as heard on tracks like Tha Bounce and Fuck the Fame. He built his career under contract with Neophyte Records and Rotterdam Records, two of the Netherlands' defining hardcore imprints, before launching his own label, State of Anarchy, in 2019 to control his output more directly. His catalogue stretches back to 2002's Hit 'Em on Neophyte Records, and over more than two decades his DJ bookings have kept him within the mainstream hardcore and gabber circuit that Rotterdam-area labels have long anchored.
