About Talla 2xlc
Talla 2XLC, born Andreas Tomalla in Frankfurt am Main in 1963, is credited with coining the term techno while working at the record shop City-Music under Frankfurt's main train station starting in 1983, where he began separating electronically produced records into their own category. In 1984 he founded the Technoclub event series, and through the early recording aliases Axodry, Two of China, Moskwa TV and Bigod 20 he built a production career alongside his DJ work. He stepped back from DJing between 1992 and 1995 to focus on his labels and artists before making a comeback at international raves in the mid-1990s, and he held a residency at Frankfurt's Dorian Gray club until its closure at the end of 2000, during which time he was one of the most heavily booked DJs in Germany. After 2000 he shifted increasingly toward remix work for trance acts including Rank 1 and Darude, while continuing to tour internationally, particularly in the United States, represented by the Canadian agency DJlinks alongside Johan Gielen, Scot Project and Yoji Biomehanika. His long-running World of Trance compilation series, released through ZYX, has continued into recent installments, and he has played major festivals including Tomorrowland, Nature One, World Club Dome and Electric Daisy Carnival Orlando and Mexico across a touring and remixing career spanning four decades.
