Tale of US
Tale of Us is the Italian DJ and production duo of Carmine Conte and Matteo Milleri, formed in Milan in 2008 and later based in Berlin, where the melodic, emotionally driven techno sound they developed found its audience through the 2010s. The pair built their reputation through residencies and mix series before launching Afterlife as both a label and a touring event brand, staging audiovisual shows at venues including Printworks London and large-scale festival takeovers that paired their DJ sets with elaborate visual production.
Their Afterlife parties became a fixture at Tomorrowland, Awakenings and other major festivals, and the label grew into a platform for artists such as Mind Against and Adriatique. In 2021 Milleri began releasing separately under the alias Anyma, a solo project that expanded into large-format shows including a Sphere Las Vegas residency, while Conte continued under the name Mrak.
Tale of Us paused as an active touring act as both members pursued solo work, though the duo's earlier catalogue, including releases on Life and Death and Innervisions, remains central to Afterlife's identity. Their DJ sets, typically built around slow-building, atmospheric progressions rather than peak-time drops, helped define what became known as melodic techno on the international club and festival circuit.
