Talamasca
Talamasca is the Paris-based psychedelic trance project of Cédric Dassulle, who began his DJ career in 1992 and became resident DJ at the Rex Club in Paris in 1995 and 1996, a formative residency that shaped his early sound. Also known by the alias DJ Lestat, Dassulle founded Talamasca in 1996 initially alongside Steve Eli and Javier de Galloy, house producers who ran a shared studio before the project became primarily his solo vehicle.
His first track, "Tribal Journey," became a significant hit in 1995, and his 1998 debut album Beyond the Mask helped cement his standing within the psytrance and Goa trance scenes. Dassulle has spent over 13 years on piano before turning to DJing, a musical background that informs his melodic approach within the psychedelic trance genre.
He has released through labels including Trance Sphere, Dacru Records and Mind Control Records, building a catalogue that supports his continued touring as a DJ playing psytrance and Goa trance events internationally. Talamasca has remained active promoting the project's music through club and festival appearances worldwide since the mid-1990s, with Dassulle's early Rex Club residency continuing to inform the sound he plays on the international psytrance circuit today.
