Swedish House Mafia are Swedish DJs Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, a Stockholm trio closely associated with bringing progressive house into the mainstream around 2009 and 2010. First identified by that name at Winter Music Conference in March 2007, they became leading faces of mainstream progressive house through large-scale, anthem-oriented performances. Their shows have ranged from a Milton Keynes National Bowl date in 2012 with Calvin Harris, Alesso and Example to three sold-out Friends Arena nights in Stockholm later that year, attended by more than 100,000 people.
They closed Ultra Music Festival in Miami on 24 March 2013 before breaking up, then made a surprise return for Ultra's twentieth anniversary in 2018. The reunion continued with three Tele2 Arena shows in Stockholm in 2019, a one-night Ushuaïa Ibiza residency and a Creamfields Arc Stage closing. They also opened the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup ceremony in Jeddah.
The group won Best International Success at the 2012 Grammis Awards and Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 2013 Grammis, and received Grammy nominations for Save the World and Don't You Worry Child. Their individual label links include Size Records, Refune and Axtone. Swedish House Mafia remain defined by progressive-house sets designed to translate their melodic, peak-time sound from stadiums and festivals to their core Swedish audience.
