Sub Focus — Drum & Bass DJ & Producer

Sub Focus, the stage name of English producer and DJ Nick Douwma, born 13 April 1982 in Guildford, works within the drum and bass scene. He scored his first number one on the UK dance chart in March 2005 with X-Ray / Scarecrow, a single that also reached number 60 on the main UK Singles Chart, and followed it with a second dance number one, Timewarp / Join the Dots, in 2008. His self-titled debut album arrived in October 2009, followed by Torus in September 2013 and Evolve in May 2023, with the single Rock It / Follow the Light marking his first entry into the UK Top 40 in 2009 and earning him a BBC Radio 1 B-list playlist slot. Douwma has toured extensively as a live DJ, including a 2010 UK support run for Australian drum and bass act Pendulum on their Immersion tour, and has remixed artists such as The Prodigy, Deadmau5, Rusko and Dizzee Rascal for his own sets and releases. His 2011 collaboration with Chase & Status, Flashing Lights, and later singles including Turn It Around featuring Kele Okereke pushed his production into wider festival rotation, supporting a touring career built on high-energy drum and bass sets across UK and international club stages.
