Stephan Bodzin — Melodic Techno DJ & Producer

Stephan Bodzin is a German techno producer and live performer, born 4 August 1969 in Bremen, whose career began composing music for European theaters before he moved into electronic music and DJ culture. Bodzin founded the Herzblut label in 2006 and released his debut album, Liebe Ist, on the imprint in May 2007, following early singles such as “Caligula / Marathon Man” in December 2005 and “Tron / Midnight Express” in August 2006. His second album, Powers of Ten, arrived in 2015, and he shifted to Afterlife for his third album, Boavista, in 2021, a period that coincided with a growing profile on the international live-electronic circuit. Rather than performing as a traditional two-turntable DJ, Bodzin is known for elaborate hardware-driven live sets built around modular synthesizers, an approach that has made him a fixture at major techno stages and helped his tracks become staples in sets by other prominent DJs. Alongside his own label and releases, including “Kerosene / Cucuma” in 2006 and “Strand” in 2017, Bodzin has continued to define a melodic, hardware-forward strain of German techno that bridges studio production and the live performance circuit, sustaining a profile that spans club and festival stages across Europe.
