Solarstone — Trance DJ & Radio Host

Solarstone, born Richard Mowatt on 20 October 1972, is a British trance DJ based between Birmingham and Wales who founded the Solar Stone project in Dudley in 1997 alongside Andy Bury and Sam Tierney. Mowatt appeared on the DJ Mag Top 100 list in 2008 and 2013, and he built a decade-long presence in trance radio, producing the Deep Blue Radioshow from its first episode in May 2005 through 116 episodes to July 2008, and co-producing the Solaris International Radio Show with Robbie Nelson from 2004, which became a weekly two-hour podcast from December 2006 and ran 465 episodes until August 2015. In 2012 Mowatt began touring under the Pure Trance banner, a concept and philosophy he created to keep trance music rooted in its original style, and later launched Pure Trance Radio to extend that platform. From 2014 he also toured as PureNRG, a collaborative live act with Giuseppe Ottaviani. Solarstone's Balearic trance leanings surface in tracks like Seven Cities, and his sustained radio hosting alongside club and festival DJ dates across more than two decades established him as one of British trance's longest-running touring figures.
