Sonny John Moore, known as Skrillex, is an American DJ from Los Angeles who moved from being the vocalist of From First to Last into electronic music after leaving the band in 2007. Adopting the Skrillex name in 2008, he became an important force in bringing brostep and dubstep to a broad US audience. His sets and collaborations move beyond that foundation, drawing together electro house, pop, gqom, moombahton and reggae-EDM. Skrillex has played Coachella, Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, Austin City Limits Festival and Mad Decent Block Party.
At Coachella in 2011, Korn joined him onstage; in 2018 he appeared at Fuji Rock with Yoshiki. He co-founded Jack Ü with Diplo, debuting the project at the Mad Decent Block Party in San Diego in 2013, and the pair later sold out Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve 2014. Skrillex returned to the venue in February 2023 for a sold-out show with Four Tet and Fred Again, while a May 2025 Red Rocks date sold out in minutes. He founded OWSLA in 2011.
With nine Grammy wins, including dance recording and album awards across 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2024, he has accumulated the most Grammys of any EDM act. His DJ work has remained defined by constant cross-genre movement.
