Shockone

ShockOne is the stage name of Karl Thomas, an Australian drum and bass and dubstep producer and DJ from Esperance, Western Australia, now based in Perth, who has been releasing music under the alias since 2005. His breakthrough EP, also titled ShockOne, arrived in 2009 on Viper Recordings and included the tracks Polygon and Adachigahara's Theme, establishing his sound across both drum and bass and dubstep audiences. His 2013 album Universus, also released through Viper, reached number two on the Australian albums chart, a rare feat for a drum and bass artist and one that cemented his standing on the national festival circuit. Later releases, including In This Light in 2016 and A Dark Machine in 2019, moved through Warner Music Australia and Monstercat, broadening his label reach beyond the drum and bass specialist scene, while tracks such as Showdown with Virtual Riot and Lazerbeam, featuring additional production from Metrik, kept him connected to the genre's collaborative circuit. ShockOne's most recent album, Organism Algorithm, released in 2024 on his own Dark Machine Records, reflects a continuing career built on drum and bass, dubstep and drumstep across nearly two decades of touring and production.
