Shlomi Aber — Techno DJ & Producer

Shlomi Aber is an Israeli techno DJ and producer who grew up in a small town in southern Israel and started DJing around age 11 or 12, later running a record store as his musical development continued. His sound draws on German and Detroit techno, house and acid, described by Aber himself as versatile, with groove and funk remaining constant threads across his sets regardless of tempo or subgenre. He has released through the Be As One Imprint, Ovum and Renaissance, labels that place him within the deeper, more musical end of the techno spectrum rather than its harder, more industrial wing. His DJ setup has evolved from vinyl to CDJs and timecode-controlled computer setups, reflecting decades of adaptation to changing club technology, and he has continued producing with software moving from early versions of Cubase through to Cubase 7. Aber has cited younger artists such as Yotam Avni and acts like Konplott as current listening, underscoring his ongoing engagement with techno's newer generation even as he approaches two decades or more behind the decks, saying DJing still excites him the same way it did when he started.
