Sharam — Techno & Deep House DJSharam
Sharam Tayebi, born 12 August 1970 in Tehran, Iran, emigrated to the Washington, D.C. area, where he formed Deep Dish with Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia in 1992, becoming a mainstay of the city's underground dance scene.
Sharam won the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix of the Year in 2009, selected from 52 other submissions that year, and his Live from Warung, Brazil set was first broadcast on the Essential Mix before being released as a standalone compilation. His mix and compilation catalog includes Cream Separates in 1997, two editions of Yoshiesque, Global Underground Toronto in 2003, Global Underground: Dubai in 2006 and Yoshitoshi Ibiza in 2016, a body of work spanning nearly two decades of DJ mix releases.
Sharam undertook the Retroactive Tour in 2016, beginning in San Diego and finishing in San Antonio with stops planned in Mexico, Canada and Ibiza, and reunited with Dubfire as Deep Dish in 2014 for a run of city gigs. Releasing through his own Yoshitoshi Records alongside Tribal America, Spinnin' Deep and Ultra Records, Sharam's techno and deep house-rooted sets, combined with his Essential Mix of the Year honor, established him as one of the more decorated Iranian-American DJs on the international club circuit.
