Jeffrey Allen Montalvo, known as Seven Lions, is an American DJ and electronic artist from Santa Barbara, California. He works across melodic dubstep, electro house, progressive house, trance, psytrance and glitch hop, with a signature blend that pairs melodic dubstep with orchestral and trance elements. His career gained momentum after he won an Above & Beyond remix competition in 2011.
Seven Lions has since appeared at SXSW, Ultra Music Festival, EDC New York, Electric Zoo, Camp Bisco and Dreamstate SoCal. He also brought his Chronicles event series to The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington, creating a named event context for his performances. In 2018 he founded Ophelia Records, giving his releases and artist identity an independent label home.
Albums including Beyond the Veil from 2022 and Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars from 2025 sit within that broader arc. The range of styles in his work allows a melodic, emotional thread to run through bass music, house and trance influences. From the competition that opened his career to festival appearances and the Ophelia platform, Seven Lions has developed a recognisable, genre-crossing place in electronic music.
