Secondcity
Secondcity is the recording name of Rowan Harrington, a house DJ and producer born in Chicago who moved to the UK with his parents at age 12 and has been based in London for most of his career, making him effectively a British artist despite his American birthplace. He first performed under the Taiki & Nulight alias before launching Secondcity, and his 2014 single I Wanna Feel reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and UK Dance Chart, a breakthrough that came after years of underground club sets built around vinyl and tech-house selections. In an interview with UCC Express, Harrington described his approach to DJing as centered on uncovering forgotten records and playing tracks unfamiliar to the crowd, a philosophy he said guided his sets even as his production reached mainstream chart success on Ministry of Sound and Defected Records. He has played the Ibiza Defected Festival mainstage alongside Guti and Noir, and Fabric London has featured his floor-focused house mixes. His earlier release I Enter, put out on Dirtybird, remains one of the label's most sought-after records among collector DJs.
