Scuba
Scuba is the alias of British DJ and producer Paul Rose, who relocated from London to Berlin in 2007 and now splits his time between the German capital and Palma de Mallorca. He became closely associated with the early dubstep scene in London before his move, and after relocating he was among the artists credited with bringing dubstep sounds into Berlin's Berghain, where he built a DJ residency-level presence. In 2004 he founded Hotflush Recordings, the label he has run alongside his own DJ and production work, using it to release his own material and to develop other artists across bass and techno-adjacent styles. His DJ sets have shifted over time from lean, minimal dubstep-era selections toward a broader, more eclectic house and techno palette, mirroring the stylistic range of his studio albums, including 2008's "A Mutual Antipathy" and 2012's "Personality." He has also released official DJ-Kicks mix compilations, a format built specifically around a DJ's live selections and blending rather than original productions. Rose continues to perform internationally under the Scuba name and periodically under his SCB alias, maintaining Hotflush as a platform connected to his ongoing club and festival appearances.
