About Sander Kleinenberg
Sander Kleinenberg, born 29 December 1971 in Delft, Netherlands, began DJing at age 15 in 1987 at a local bar in The Hague, playing rock, dance and other varieties of music before releasing his first single, “Bombay,” in 1993 under the name Free Frogs. He began a monthly residency at Crobar in New York City in 2005 to promote his Everybody club brand, which had launched in 2003 with the release Renaissance: Everybody and later evolved into the wider This Is... brand.
The This Is club series held residencies at Avalon in Los Angeles, Discoteque in Moscow, Paradiso and Melkweg in Amsterdam, Red Light in Paris and Pacha in Ibiza, giving Kleinenberg one of the more geographically expansive residency networks of his generation. At Crobar he brought in Lee Burridge to collaborate on This is Everybody! On Tour and gave stage time to younger DJs including Desyn Masiello.
He also toured Lahore, Pakistan, in early 2012, performing before a large audience in a market rarely visited by Western house DJs at the time. Listed as active since 1997, Kleinenberg's career has combined club-brand building with an extensive residency circuit spanning the United States, Russia, the Netherlands, France and Ibiza, distinguishing him as much for the clubs and brands he built as for his own productions.
