About Saeed Younan
Saeed Younan is a Washington, D.C.-based DJ born in Baghdad who has spent more than two decades touring house and techno clubs in over 50 countries. He got his start as a hip-hop and house DJ in high school and college before leaving a corporate job at AOL to pursue music full time, and his early years included regular Greyhound bus trips to New York to study Danny Tenaglia's sets at Twilo. Younan founded the label Younan Music in the early 2000s, one of the first imprints devoted to MP3-only mix releases, and the label has since issued more than 300 releases.
He won the Dancestar award for Best Breakthrough DJ on the strength of his Addictive Beats mix and has released six mixed albums documenting his DJ work. As a remixer he has worked with Danny Tenaglia and Loco Dice, and his tracks have charted in the top ten on Beatport and Traxsource. In 2021 he released his first full artist album, Morph, expanding beyond his house and techno foundation into gospel and drum and bass textures.
Younan continues to tour weekly while running Younan Music, describing himself as a DJ first, with production developed later to support his sets.
