Ron Carroll
Ron Carroll was a Chicago house DJ, singer and producer who started spinning at his own South Side club, the Bangin' Enterprize, in the early 1980s before opening for Lil' Louis and Mike Dunn. A 1994 trip to the Winter Music Conference in Miami connected him with Louie Vega, leading to his lyric-writing credit on Barbara Tucker's "I Get Lifted" and cementing his place in Chicago's house scene.
He joined the vocal and production trio Deep Soul alongside Mike Dunn and Byron Stingily in 1994, then co-founded MOS Productions, short for Ministers of Sound, with Spero Pagos in 1996 for the UC/Afterhours label. In 2001 he launched his own imprint, Body Music Records, continuing to release and perform house material under his own name.
Across a career that ran from 1994 into 2025, Carroll balanced DJ bookings with vocal and songwriting work, becoming a recognizable voice on Chicago house records while remaining active behind the decks. He died in 2025, closing out a four-decade run that began on the South Side dancefloors that shaped his sound.
