About Robert Babicz

Robert Babicz, born 5 January 1973 in Niemodlin, Poland, is a Cologne-based artist who has worked as a DJ, live performer, producer and mastering engineer since the early 1990s, when acid house was at its peak. He first made his name as Rob Acid, releasing and performing acid techno under that alias before adopting further aliases including Sontec, Dicabor, Atlon Inc and Acid Warrior across different projects. Babicz is particularly known for improvised live sets built around synthesizers and hardware, a format that has become his signature alongside more conventional DJ appearances at clubs and festivals.

His recent bookings include Rave the Planet's Float Nr. 19 during the 2026 Berlin parade and Systematic Boutique Festival alongside artists such as Marc Romboy and Drumcomplex, reflecting continued festival activity nearly three decades into his career. Now based partly in Malta, Babicz moved to Germany as a child and built his career from Cologne outward, developing a reputation across both the acid techno underground and more melodic, spiritually inflected strands of house and techno.

His long-running production and mastering work has run in parallel with his performing career, giving him a dual reputation as both a technical specialist and an active club and festival performer.
