Rino Cerrone
Rino Cerrone was a Naples-based Italian techno and tech house DJ, producer and label owner who began making crowds dance in the early 1990s and became a pioneering figure in bringing house and techno sounds from Naples to Italy's wider club scene. He co-founded the label Rilis and its sublabels, including Loose Club, building an outlet for his functional, floor-facing productions since the label's founding in 1999.
Cerrone performed at major club and festival events including I Love Techno and Innercity, the latter organized by promoter group ID&T at the multi-environment Rai venue in Amsterdam, and toured extensively through Japan and South America. He appeared in clubs across Italy and abroad, with performances at festivals continuing through the final years of his career.
Cerrone's early interest in punk rock and involvement in underground social centers shaped his path into DJing before he moved fully into house and techno. He died in September 2024 at age 52, remembered as one of the pioneers who carried the disco-rooted house sound out of Naples and onto the global stage, with his Rilis and Unrilis label output remaining part of his lasting production legacy.
