Richard Durand
Richard Durand, born Richard van Schooneveld in Amsterdam on April 5, 1976, is a Dutch trance DJ and producer who got his first major break in 2005 when Tiësto tipped him as an artist for the future in DJ magazine. He built a reputation for a tougher tech-trance sound, releasing tracks and remixes for major trance artists including Tiësto and Armin van Buuren, and has been described as a natural successor to Tiësto's King of Trance status within the scene.
His breakthrough single No Way Home helped establish his drum-heavy, tech-house-inflected trance style, distinguishing his productions from more melodic strands of the genre. Durand has continued releasing music over two decades, with tracks including Ballad of the Southern Sea arriving in 2025, showing sustained activity as both a producer and touring DJ.
Also known under the alias Cyber Human, he has maintained a consistent presence within the Dutch trance scene since his 2005 breakout, building on the connections formed early in his career with the genre's biggest names. His work bridges classic uplifting trance with harder, more tech-focused production choices, a combination that helped him stand out on the international trance festival and club circuit through the late 2000s and beyond.
