About Ramon Tapia

Ramon Tapia is a techno DJ born to a Dutch mother and Chilean father who grew up in Antwerp, Belgium, developing an early interest in dance music that ranged from Michael Jackson to Kraftwerk and early Detroit techno. He worked in a record shop while learning music production, a period that led to his 2010 feature on Strictly Rhythms Vol. 6, released by Strictly Rhythm and marking an early breakthrough in his career.

Tapia has played festival sets at Tomorrowland, placing him among the techno acts booked at one of Europe's largest electronic festivals, and he has remixed tracks for DJ Sneak, Armand van Helden and Umek, connections that reflect his standing within the house and techno DJ community. In 2012 he co-founded the labels Say What? Recordings and Aella Music alongside fellow DJ/producer Hermanez, outlets he has used to support both his own releases and the material he plays in his sets.

Tapia has also released through Herzblut, Craft, Drumcode and Secret Cinema's Gem Records, a spread of techno-focused imprints that underscores his standing as a touring DJ within the European techno circuit built from his Antwerp record-shop beginnings.
