Rac

RAC, the project of Portuguese-American musician André Allen Anjos, began in 2007 as the Remix Artist Collective, a name reflecting Anjos's original ambition to move dance remix culture away from strict dancefloor focus toward more creative, original arrangements of other artists' songs. Anjos has spent significant stretches of his career as a touring DJ, playing shows behind the decks around the world even as RAC evolved toward a live-band format for concerts, with tour setlists blending his own material with reworked live versions of songs by Foster the People, Two Door Cinema Club, Joywave and Odesza.

Wikipedia lists Anjos's occupation simply as DJ, reflecting a catalogue of more than 200 remixes across rock, electronica and dance genres for artists including the Chemical Brothers, the Shins, Miguel, Lana Del Rey and Bob Marley, work that built his profile within remix and DJ culture before RAC's original songwriting career took off. Early in RAC's history, the Stereogum-curated compilation RAC Vol.

1 gathered a collection of his remixes of acts like Bloc Party, Au Revoir Simone and Chromeo, framed explicitly as an organic mixtape akin to a DJ set. Anjos has continued to release original albums, including Strangers and BOY, while his remix and DJ-rooted identity remains foundational to the RAC project's reputation.
