Piatto
Piatto is the DJ alias of Alessandro Piatto, an Italian producer and selector from Turin who began playing punk and new wave records around the mid-1980s after forming his first band at age eleven. Working alongside his brother Davide, a pioneer of early Chicago house through the Klein and M.B.O. project, Alessandro built his own path behind the decks, favoring a laptop-and-controller setup that lets him rearrange techno and house tracks live with loops, effects and mash-ups rather than sticking to fixed genre lines.
In 2006 he founded the label Italo Business with fellow DJs Dandi and Ugo, a low-budget outlet created to give emerging electronic producers a platform, and the imprint became a proving ground for new Italian dance talent. Piatto has continued adjusting his sets across gigs, reading crowds and shifting tempo and hook-driven material depending on the room, a habit shaped by decades on the club circuit. His catalog spans house, techno, blues and trip hop influences, reflecting a career built more on adaptability than adherence to a single sound.
He remains active as both a DJ and a label figure within the Turin scene that also produced his brother's early house recordings.
