Perc
Perc, the London-based techno DJ and producer born Ali Wells, founded his label Perc Trax in 2004 after the idea came to him a year earlier, and has since built an international touring career spanning festivals including Awakenings, Glastonbury, Mayday, Dour, Unsound and Pitch Music & Arts, where he played the RA stage in 2019. He has headlined and closed sets at Awakenings, played Berghain, Fabric, Tresor, Fuse, Space Ibiza and Unit in Tokyo, and recorded a mix for Resident Advisor's flagship podcast series.
His early break came when James Zabiela licensed Perc Trax's first release for a Renaissance DJ mix after it initially sold nothing. His albums Wicker & Steel, from 2011, and Bitter Music, from 2017, each launched extensive world tours, with 2011 launch parties held in New York, Tokyo and London.
Perc Trax marked its tenth anniversary in 2014 with a double album and vinyl reissues, while Perc's own productions have also appeared on CLR, Kompakt, Drumcode, Stroboscopic Artefacts and Electric Deluxe. Playing sets built around roughly 1,200 tracks arranged in Ableton, Perc mixes industrial textures with driving techno, touring extensively through Europe, South America and Australia.
