Orkidea
Orkidea, born Antti Tapio Hakanen in Helsinki, has spent more than three decades building a career as one of Scandinavia's leading trance and progressive DJs. He began playing at illegal squat parties and underground raves in Helsinki in 1992, and has since played more than 2,000 gigs worldwide, appearing on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll and racking up seven wins as Finland's top DJ in national polls, alongside two wins as Scandinavia's most popular DJ. His remix work has appeared on Anjunabeats and Hooj Choons, key homes for the trance sound he helped popularize, and he has notched 40 Beatport Top 100 entries plus a Beatport Trance number-one single and album. Orkidea has also used his standing in the Finnish scene to book international names such as Eric Prydz, Sasha and Pete Tong for shows in Finland, and for two decades he has organized events with the Unity Collective. More recently he has worked as creative director for Classical Tranclations, staging symphonic reworkings of electronic music classics, and by 2023 he had taken on the role of head of music at Finnish public broadcaster Yle, extending his influence from the booth to the airwaves.
