Noisia

Noisia is a Dutch drum and bass trio from Groningen made up of Martijn van Sonderen, Nik Roos and Thijs de Vlieger, active as a group from 2003 to 2022 and known for DJ and live sets spanning drum and bass, dubstep, breakbeat and grime. Their debut release, the Silicon / Tomahawk single, came out on Paul Reset's Nerve Recordings in August 2003, and their track Tomahawk, made with Mayhem, drew the attention of Shadow Law Recordings and helped establish their early reputation.

Between 2005 and 2009 the trio released tracks including Drifter, which incorporated liquid funk influences, expanding their sound beyond the harder neurofunk and techstep tags most associated with them. Van Sonderen's background in hip-hop production and piano shaped the group's genre-crossing approach, which also included producing more than three hours of music for the video game DmC: Devil May Cry and working on Tasha Baxter's album Colour of Me, blending pop and reggae elements into their drum and bass foundation.

The trio also released material under aliases including Nightwatch, Drifter, Hustle Athletics and Frizz, reflecting their range beyond the main Noisia banner. Their DJ sets and studio work made them a reference point in the neurofunk and experimental drum and bass scenes through their Invisible Recordings-affiliated releases.
