About Noir

Noir is the recording name of Danish DJ and producer René Kristensen, who built his club career out of Aalborg before his 2011 track "Around" turned into a genre-crossing hit that topped the Beatport chart for six weeks and drew a high-profile remix from Solomun. That single's success expanded his DJ bookings well beyond Denmark, taking his sets to house and tech house focused clubs and festivals across Europe. Noir launched his own label, Noir Music, in 2007, using it as a platform for his own tracks and edits that regularly featured in his live sets, while also releasing material through Defected, a connection that tied him into the wider deep and tech house touring circuit. His DJ sets are typically built around stripped-back, groove-driven house and techno, favoring hypnotic, percussive tracks over vocal hooks. Over more than a decade of touring, Noir has played extended club nights and festival slots that reflect his standing within the European house and techno scene, with his production work continuing to feed directly into the material he plays during his own DJ performances.
