Nick Warren began DJing in Bristol in 1988, initially playing reggae and indie records before moving into house music, and went on to serve as the official tour DJ for Massive Attack on their first major American tour. He became a resident DJ at Cream in Liverpool during the club's most influential period in British dance music, a role that ran alongside his formation of the duo Way Out West with Jody Wisternoff in 1995.
Warren has been one of the most prolific contributors to the Global Underground mix series, recording entries including GU008: Brazil in 1998, GU018: Amsterdam and GU024: Reykjavik in 2003, each capturing his progressive house sets recorded live in different cities around the world. He runs the label Hope Recordings, using it to support the tracks he plays in his sets, and hosts a long-running radio show and events brand called The Soundgarden, extending his reach as a tastemaker beyond his club dates.
Warren's back catalogue of Global Underground mixes remains among the most referenced entries in that series' history, credited with shaping how a generation of DJs approached progressive house set structure. Born in Bristol on 24 October 1968, Warren has sustained an international touring career across more than three decades, moving between club residencies, festival bookings and his own radio and label ventures.
