Moonbeam — Trance & Progressive House DJMoonbeam
Moonbeam is the Russian electronic music project founded in 2003 by brothers Vitaly and Pavel Khvaleev, blending trance, progressive house, atmospheric techno, and deep minimal in their sets. Vitaly, born September 17, 1979, began working as a DJ at Pechora, a nightclub in Nizhny Novgorod, in 1999, the same year the brothers, working then under the name Black and Cap, started producing tracks and remixes using early sampling and computer tools.
Pavel, born May 27, 1984, joined his brother in Nizhny Novgorod five years later, and the pair adopted the Moonbeam name after recording tracks including Raven Gypsy with American vocalist Chris Lunsford in 2003. In 2010, Moonbeam was listed at number 42 in DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJs poll, becoming just the third Russian act to appear on the list, a recognition tied directly to their touring and DJ profile at the time.
On March 5, 2016, at the Trancemission Awakening festival, the brothers announced the closure of the Moonbeam project alongside the release of a farewell album, Eclipse. After three years away, Vitaly relaunched Moonbeam as a solo endeavor in 2019, continuing to perform and produce under the name he and his brother built over more than a decade of DJing together.
