Modeselektor
Modeselektor is a Berlin electronic duo consisting of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, who grew up in Woltersdorf and Rudersdorf near Berlin before forming the project that released its first EP, In Loving Memory, in 2002. The pair built a career that combines studio production with both DJ sets and live performances, touring extensively since the mid-2000s and playing more than seventy shows in 2004 alone during an early peak in their live schedule.
They contributed a mix to the DJ-Kicks series through !K7 Music, a compilation format specifically built around DJ selections, and have collaborated with artists including Thom Yorke, Otto von Schirach, Siriusmo and Paul St. Hilaire across various releases.
Modeselektor released their first record since 2021 in the years following a touring hiatus, during which the duo focused on side projects while remaining part of Berlin's techno underground community. Their catalog and touring history place them among the more internationally recognized acts to emerge from Berlin's early-2000s electronic scene, with Bronsert and Szary continuing to balance DJ bookings, live shows and production work as connected strands of the same long-running partnership.
