Michael Calfan
Michael Calfan, born in Paris on November 12, 1990, is a French house DJ and producer who was discovered in 2008 by Bob Sinclar, who identified him as one of the most promising artists on his Yellow Productions label. His track Resurrection was released through Axwell's label Axtone Records in late 2011, followed by Falcon on Protocol Recordings in 2013 and Prelude on Spinnin' Records in 2014, releases that helped define the soul-inflected house style critics have labeled soul house. His catalogue continued through Warner Bros.
Records with tracks including On You, Got You, and Sydney's Song in 2018, and further releases on Musical Freedom and Warner Music in 2021, including Feeling After Dark and Imagining. His live sets have appeared at major festivals including Tomorrowland and Belgium's SLAM! Festival, and his catalogue has amassed roughly 300 million Spotify streams across his career.
Active since 2008, Calfan has described ongoing efforts to diversify his live set and genre approach, moving beyond his signature soul house sound while maintaining the house and progressive foundations that first brought him attention through his Yellow Productions discovery and subsequent major-label and independent releases.
